If your computer hardware is having difficulty with the in-browser recording software, we recommend downloading a free program called Audacity. Instructions are below for Windows PCs and Macs.
NOTE: Either a built-in (laptop) or external (desktop) microphone is required.
Windows Instructions:
- Click HERE to open the Audacity download website for PCs.
- Click "Audacity 2.2.2 installer" to download the file.
- Once downloaded, click on the installation file to run it.
- In Chrome, just click the file at the bottom of the browser window.
- In Firefox, click the Save button, then click the down arrow in the upper right corner. Click on the audacity file name to begin the installation.
- Click Yes to allow Audacity to install.
- Choose your language, default is English.
- Click the Next button four times, then click the Install button.
- Click Next and then Finish.
Mac Instructions:
- Click HERE to open the Audacity download website for Macs.
- Click “Audacity 2.2.2 .dmg file”
- Once downloaded, click on the installation file to run it.
- In Chrome, just click the file at the bottom of the browser window.
- In Firefox, click the Save button, then click the down arrow in the upper right corner. Click on the audacity file name to begin the installation.

Double-click the downloaded DMG to mount it.

Drag the “Audacity.app” icon in the DMG window to the /Applications folder icon on the right. Alternatively, drag the “Audacity.app” icon to any other location of your choosing.

Do not double-click the “Audacity” icon in the DMG to launch Audacity from there.

Eject the DMG at bottom left of Finder, then launch Audacity.app from /Applications or from your chosen location.
You are now ready to record using Audacity!
